Further possible information …. William Piper 1822(?)-1917 was adopted by an unknown family in Illinois, USA but left them behind in his early teens. Not completely sure if Piper was an adopted name or birth name. He was William Piper, Jr., so I would assume his father was also William (George?) Piper. Records imply he landed in the USA in New York, but boat information unknown. Have seen reference to a Ballaugh,Isle of Man marriage between a William Piper and a Catharine Brew on 10 June 1797. Would love to find further records on them, if they emigrated in 1821-1823, if they had children, especially a daughter (William jr. may have born on the crossing to America)
