Assuming that the mainland means the UK and not Orkney then why not spend a few days in Douglas where the Manx Museum has all on film - pre 1860 I have note of some 112 Casement wills pre 1841 of which I have summaries of photos for 75 + probably a few more I've missed

However the Manx Museum also has the many land records etc that you would probably find very useful
