The civil administration on Island took over most of these matters (eg civil reg of births, marriages and deaths from 1880s) and later adoptions when these were recorded rather than the previous informal (unrecorded) inter/intra family arrangements thus the church would not be involved.
There are mid to late 19th Century lists of those receiving aid from eg House of Industry but the advent of old age pensions post WW1 on Island saw many taken out of the need for such - after this became a state function with the growing social welfare system eg state run children's homes taking over from church or charity run homes post WW1.
