Lucy Annie Holroyd / Thomas Herbert Gelling

Hi everyone

I got a little confused again!!!

Lucy Annie Holroyd is the sister of Theodore Edward Holroyd

Little bit of background:

On the 1911 census IoM, 14 Sydney Street, Douglas

James Holroyd, 58, Widower, Wine & Spirit Merchant
Annie Shaw, 31, Single, Housekeeper
Theo E Holroyd, 10, Son, School

James Holroyd and Annie Shaw married 1911 and had a daughter: Lucy Annie Holroyd born 1916 - so Lucy is Theodore's half sister

Trying to track Lucy Holroyd after 1916 is then becoming difficult.

There is a grave stone online (Douglas Cemetery), which actually shows that she died 7 Dec 1984 - Lucy Annie Celling and is buried with:

Charlotte Elizabeth Holroyd (6 Aug 1909) -
Wife of James Holroyd (22 Jan 1919) -
Wife of the above Annie Shaw (15 Jan 1969) -
Daughter of the above Lucy Annie Gelling (15 Dec 1989) -
Husband of the above Thomas Herbert Gelling (8 Mar 1998)

ManxBMD show Lucy Annie Holroyd marrying a Thomas Herbert Gelling: 1950 (Parish German, Page 534, Register COE)

My confusion starts here:

On all search engines, other than ManxBMD, it appears that they don't exist. I think the name Gelling has been misspelt and seen on the burial record found online, shown as "Celling"

It was only when I was doing newspaper searches, that I found another Thomas Herbert Gelling who actually was previously married and his divorce absolute came through on 31 October 1950. Not sure if this is the same person, but a witness in the divorce lived close by: Fairy Lhane . Greeba

I then can't find any further information about either Lucy or Thomas

There was mention of a Tom Holroyd as a music teacher, Tom Holroyd's address is given as, "Minforth", Greeba Avenue, Glen Vine in 1959 - no idea if they are linked

Any ideas of how I can find out more about either of them?

Thank you once again,
Gem
