David’s right about searching both Callister and Collister. I’d only looked at Callister.
I’ve now looked at the John Collister entries in the census indexes and found one in 1861 and one in 1871 (married but not with wife) who could be the same person as the John Callister at Moaneymooar, Malew in 1851 in my previous message, and the John Callister entry that David found at St Bees in 1841.
