I am very sorry to tell all the Joughin and Maughold researchers who have been helped in the past by Philip, including on this board, that he died last year of cancer.

He lived in Surrey but had been regularly visiting the IoM since he was a teenager when he first met Bill and Constance Radcliffe who introduced him to his family history. They became good friends whom he visited whenever he returned to the island, until their deaths.

Philip descended from the Allen vicars of Maughold, and from the Joughins of Cronkbane, Bride. All Joughin families and descendants past and present were of immense interest to him.

He was always more than generous with his help and information, and will be greatly missed.
