Hi Frances: Thanks for your response, and thanks for checking on the marriage and birth records. The birth dates for the children came from a previous family member who is now deceased. The birth date for the son, Thomas, is accurate. He was my 2nd great grandfather and I have been working on his line. I found a document written by another family member (author unknown, not even sure when it was written) but it mentioned that Goldsmith is a Manx name and that there is "evidence" that Miss Goldsmith was a native of the Isle of Man and that the children were born there as well. I don't know what the evidence is that was referred in the document I found but other family records have indicated that the son, Thomas, was born there.
