It's an interesting deed dated abt a year prior to marriage (Cath was under 21 + married with approval) but passed thro court a couple of years post marriage - deed refers to son in law + cath kneen als carine as tho already married at the time - you may be able to purchase a scan via library@mnh.gov.im
it refers to a mortgage on property in croit-e-caley which is I think SSM May 1774 73 (again deed at Museum but I havn't seen this) but can't at moment see how Richard father of John acquired the land (no obvious deed of sale tho possibly by marriage into it) - his son John was actually the 2nd of that name the first dying of smallpox aged 3 (see the MIs by Feltham on www.manxnotebook.com) in burial reg Ricards was a blacksmith at time
I suspect he came from Malew where the name Kneen seemed to appear by 1740s from Creen - a sequence I've always found difficult to understand unless misread hand as Cr in many hands at this time looks like Cn which would easily move to Kn as found in many Manx names
