Thanks Frances for the info, I have been able to gather further information regarding Alexander hannay ,apparently the first mate on board the ill fated Horatio was another Manxsman namely John Johnson ,son of the late capt Johnson of the Lynx cutter of Liverpool .Alexander Hannay was the brother to John Bean Hannay tried and convicted of dealing in slaves in 1817.
