Hello. I probablly joined this Board more than 5 yrs. ago. I have received important information from helpful researchers in the past. Because of "family issues," I haven't posted in a long time.
But, I thought I'd mention that, because of "Facebook," I just "found" a new "distant cousin." My ancestor was Evan CORKILL / CORKHILL, b~1827 in the Lezayre Parish. He had an older brother, John CORKILL, b~1825. And, the new "cousin" is descended from John.
Reminder: John and Esther (CORKILL) CORKILL were their parents and they married there in 1822. From memory, John's parents were John CORKILL and Jane KINREAD. I don't believe anyone has found out who Esther's parents were.
John and Esther reportedly had 10 children, but I have not found very much on the other 8. One was a Lewis CORKILL, and that seems to be a popular name on the IOM.
"Stanley" LEWIS and Mary CORKILL became friends at the "Liverpool Sheltering Homes" (Byrom St.). I have a bit more information on Stanley's parents and grandparents. His parents were John LEWIS and Isabella BURROW or BURROWS. She was born in Skirton, but I think her parents, John and Isabella (PARK) BURROWS moved to Liverpool in the 1830's. John's parents were Richard LEWIS and Elizabeth TROUGHTON from Shropshire and Cheshire.
That's all I'll say for now. I've been researching my family-tree for 20 yrs., and 15 yrs. on-line. So, I've received or collected a lot of information on my ancestors.
