I think you may have confused 2 lightning strikes ! one in 1811 killed 3 infant sons + one in 1876 affecting 3 shearers ( see www.manxnotebook.com/famhist/v11n1.htm
Custal or Cushatl is a form of Christopher - Christopher Bell acquired land in Surby treen in 1708 and it would appear to pass by descent to several Christophers until at least early 19th cent (some of deeds on my CD indicate this) tho in late 1790's and early 1800 the then owner was heavily indebted and passed land to his son Christopher requiring him to pay off mortgage
