there are no birth certs before 1877 other than a very few voluntarily requested birth registrations - compulsory registration didn't start until 1877/8.
Loch prom as such did not exist in 1871 - it was built on reclaimed land (see history under Douglas on www.manxnotebook.com) however Servern house is almost at the end of Loch Prom at its junction with Harris Prom and where it came very close to Castle street (an extension of Strand street) to which Harris Prom is almost an extension - there were buildings already on the seaward side of Castle street which became merged into the Loch Prom when that was complete towards end of 1870s - it was I think at time merely a large dwelling house - on 1868 plan it would appear to be next to the baths and just south of what was to become Gensil's corner at juction of the two proms - St Thomas's church (in Douglas rather than Braddan) is less than 20 yards away!
