It appears that a significant part of the Looney family (various spellings of the surname) were originally located in Lonan Parish. Rent records from 1540, indicate that the Looney family were associated with "Skynscowe", 1611 and later records show "Skinscoe". In the early 1700s the Looney family or the property name, seems to have shifted to "Ballamoar". It seems possible that the Looney families of Maughold Parish may descend from the earlier Lonan Parish Looney family.

I'm wondering if anyone has attempted to research and document the family lines for the Lonan Parish Looney families?
