there are very few if any Looney's in early maughold land records
the May 1729 #45 deed - dated 2 Nov 1727;Joney Looney als Quilaish (relict Wm Loony late deceased) gives to son John a parcel of curragh called Close Gaue - intack adj Curragh Moore on south side + Crott Woods on north - John to pay 3 doz of turf cut in sd curragh home to my house at BalleyLost + doz black or mountain turf if agreed upon;if son willing to live in sd croft then willing to give half of land etc - he to fence + repair hedges etc;Wm Collease, Hugh Black names the place but did she acquire via her 2nd husband ?

The only Looney in the 1704 book is widow Looney + her children for 3d in a dwelling house + 2d in a garden in Ramsey
