towards end of 19th C both baptisms + marriages took place in Methodist Chapels - see under 'dissenters' in Brian Lawson's index
prior to say 1860 it would be usual even for a strong Methodist family to have children baptised in Parish Church - Marriages could only take place in places linced for marriages and not all chapels were (especially the smaller ones)
