I’ve just written a note relating to a 2011 message, thinking that I wouldn’t be able to reply directly to it. Now I discover that it isn’t actually archived, so, rather than rewrite it appropriately, I’ll just paste it in below.

I’ve been helping someone who’s trying to identify an Eleanor Elizabeth Bridson, granddaughter age 10 in the household of Thomas Bridson and Ann Callin in 1891. Having found a likely solution to this puzzle, I googled the archived messages and discovered this thread from 2011:

I’ve copied the main parts of the messages, omitting the red herrings:

Hi am looking for a birth or christening record for Eleanor Bridson. Daughter of unknown Bridson and Catherine Quayle.
I have a record for Catherine Quayle being admitted to Union Mills in 1897 by daughter Eleanor Bridson, this Catherine Quayle is the daughter of Robert Quayle and Elizabeth Moore christened 25 Oct 1857 Patrick

This Catharine Quayle also had a daughter Madge, the only Madge I could find on the IGI is the one christened 10 Nov 1892 in Braddan,
Also the Eleanor Bridson on the Union Mills form went by the name of Nellie or Nelly if that may help.

I don’t know whether Tim found a solution, so here’s my take on it.
I’m speculating that this is Eleanor Elizabeth’s baptism-------

There was another Eleanor Elizabeth / Elizabeth Eleanor Bridson---illegit, born after the 1881 census in Malew. She’s identifiable in 1891, 1901 and 1911 and thus can be eliminated.
In 1911 there was a Wesleyan Methodist marriage in Ramsey of an Eleanor Elizabeth Bridson to a John Henry Cleator. I’ve eliminated John Henry Cleator b 1878, draper, because he married a Vondy girl in 1911 at Ramsey St Paul’s.
The only other JHC I can find was born in 1864 to William Cleator (farmer of 60 acres, Sartfield, Jurby, in 1881) and he was still unmarried on his uncle John Cleator’s farm, Sartfield, in 1911, not far away from where EEB was living. Looks like a reasonable possibility that they could have been the couple who married in Ramsey in the Wesleyan chapel in 1911.

Does anyone have access to non conformist marriages in Ramsey to find out who EEB names as her father, plus any other details ?
