A few months ago I received info about a patient in Ballamona. Was watching a Tv programme last week & it mentioned having to pay for a person in an institution. What were the rules etc in early 1900s as I would imagine it would be poor people as well who would have a relative institutionalised ? Also the fact that many would be put in an institution with what today would be Alzheimers or senility but then would be classified as mentally retarded with a more negative stigma.
