William Banks alias Kermode had 3 sons to 3 different Indian women.
He married the second and third
women in Indian ceremonies. I wrote an article about the Manx Missouri including William Banks for the IOMFHS Bulletin and a revised article just on Wm. Banks for the NAMA Bulletin. I also left a copy of the first version with the Holt County Historical Society. There is no mention of the first son in the Holt County Historical Society records but I learned about him from Indian relatives. The Holt county Historical Society does mention his 2 youngest sons Joseph banks whom he disowned and William Banks jr whom he gave farm land and an annuity. According to articles in the Holt County Historical Society files, the Missouri Supreme did not recognise Joseph Bank's marriage and therefore his children were disallowed any inheritance. I did not know that Catherine Galbraith had led the suit.
