Broderick has - pointed, snouted farm' Mx. balley birragh, from its shape (it is long and narrow) ; cf. Berrag JU, cf. Ir. bior'spit, skewer, lance' (Di.98), the obvious explanation. The evidence precludes Kneen's (JJK577) suggestion from (Mx.) baane 'top', as it does Marstrander's (NTSIVll. 332) suggestion of Ir. bior'water, well, stream' (Di.98), marked obsolete in Dinneen.
berrag's pairk Broderick places adj the Dock [doo lough?] road (which he is not 100% of why this name - certainly no link with a dock) grid ref SC397926 which is up in Lezayre hills on slopes of Slieau Menagh about 2.5 km south of Sulby (no building there on the modern footpaths map tho there are fields etc marked on my 1868 1:2500 plan of area with a couple of small buildings
