Hi Frances thank you for that, my cousin mentioned Charles 'Charley' McCartin and a bit of brief history of him.
Charley was crippled as an infant and drowned wen the ship rolled over after being bombed in Dunkirk as he couldn't clamber out.
His mum Mona Holland owned the theatre royal. and for her whole life believed he would walk through the door.
our Family at the time owned the Cheshire inn the Albion the Albert the New Strand and the Masonic inn. as well as the Manx Arms on Onchan.
there are very few of our Hollands left on the iom now which is a real shame.
