In 1894 my wifes great grandmother Margaret Ann HOOPER (nee Wade) died of TB. Place of death given as Ballamona Foxdale, Malew, IOM. I believe this was a psychiatric hospital. The informant on the death certificate was her husband Philip HOOPER whose address was also given as Ballamona. Philip lived for many years marrying Mary Ann GILMOUR in 1898.
I am interested to know if Ballamona Hospital would also have been used as a TB Hospital during this time or whether there is another place called Ballamona on the island.
