Thanks for posting that info and for asking if any of us out here wld like you to look up anything on that film for them - kind of you to think of us all.

I dont know if you followed my thread a few weeks ago about another John Corkill, this one b 1773, went into the Royal Navy and then to Penzance in Cornwall in 1801? If you did you will know there appear to have been several JCs around at that time (plus probably other 'undiscovered' ones) - and I am still trying to sort out what family mine came from!

He learnt in 1828 when he was living in Penzance that he should return to the IOM to claim an inheritance - so, although I appreciate this is earlier than you looking - if anything around that date caught your eye and might give me a lead, I would be v grateful if you could let me know.
