State Records NSW has recently digitised records for the First Fleet and other convict arrivals to 1801. This online project, titled Sentenced beyond the Seas, makes these colour images available on the State Records' website. The project is to mark the 225th anniversary of the arrival of the First Fleet at Sydney Cove on 26 January 1788.
There are over 12,000 names listed in these early records. These early indents provide name, date and place of trial and sentence while later indents usually include physical description, native place, age and crime. You can search the index by name, trial location, date, sentence and ship and then view the digitised images for each result.
