my grandad arrived in OZ this week he brought his wedding cert with him my grandmother Olive Gillon/Ball lists her father (YIPPEE) as Robert Ball he was a fisherman and is deceased, my grandparents married in 1947 i am told he was also a cook on the boat.

now I know her mother Jessie Gillon was married in 1924 but this doesnt cross ref with any Ball marriage's on manx bmd. There is no death for Jessie Gillon but there is for Jessie Ball in 1936 aged 45 making her born in 1891the same as Jessie Gillon - this also fits with the info I have from my grandmother she said her mother died when she was about 11/12 years old. I have not yet ordered the record its on my list

Could there be a missing marriage on manx bmd ?
there are only 4 possible fathers named Robert Ball that i can see in births, and only one in deaths but this man would have been around 67 years old at the time of my grandmas birth. It is possible that grandmas father was actually alive when she married.
