You wrote that Edna May Scarffe was born on 17/4/1911, so she wasn't born when the 1911 census was taken on the night of Sunday 2 April, 1911, which is why you can't find her there.

As you know the date, you need to buy her birth cert from the Douglas Registry which will give you the details of her parents. You also need to buy the cert of her marriage to James Dent at Castletown registry office in 1963, so that you have these official records - otherwise you are guessing.

John Lawson wrote that Edna May Scarffe's mother was Helena Susannah Scarffe 1879-1944, and that Helena Susannah was the daughter of Thomas Scarffe 1838-1904 and Esther Kneale.

The 1911 census has two records of possible Helena Susannah Scarffes b.1879 - one married, one not.
One entered as Helen Annie (who could be Helena Susannah), and who has the same address as John gave in 1891 & 1901, and the other one is entered as Lena (who has the right siblings, according to John's census records).
