I found Robert illegitimate son of Cath Caley bapt Bride 7th June 1840.
Then had a look at Presentments to see if there was any mention of his father - but to no avail.
But did notice Cath Caley noted in Defuncts August 1842.age 24.
She appears to have been working for Henry Allen at Bride 1841 census but again no mention of her son.
Just realised I didn't check whether or not Cath Caley had same parents as the family Robt Cowell was living with in 1851.
If Cath Caley was mentioned in Defuncts I assume she wouldn't have a Will [didn't see one] and if Robert was given the Cowell name would that be why there was no presentment?
But then why can't I find him under either names on the 1841 census??
And how long after the birth can it take for the mother to feature in presentments?
Any ideas appreciated
Thanks
