I've been transcribing early Ballaugh bapts - the use of Mac(son of) and Ine (dau of) was still common for a couple of names especially today's M(c)ylrea - there are entries such as Joney Inerea d/o Jon Macylrea until quite late in 17th C.
The use of Mac I think died out due to use of English in the records
