I don't know if anyone can help but I'm not looking for a person but a ship called the Jane Mackenzie, a schooner of 77 tons, built & registered in Leith in 1820 then re- registered in Inverness in1826 & in 1836 when she had a change of owners. I have copies of the registrations for 1826 & 1836 unfortunately registration books for Leith do not exist before 1824.
She was used in the coastal trade between Leith & Inverness until 1846 then the last sighting of her is in Lloyd's Register of Shipping as being registered in the Isle of Man from 1846 to 1848, owner H.Charles & master W. Creetch, after which she disappears. The registration documents would possibly tell what happened to her but I have no idea where they would be held in the Isle of man.
If anyone can help I'd be very gratefull or any suggestions where else to look would be great too.
