trade - seaman on the boats Peel being a significant player pre 1765 with Sir George Moore importing goods from many places - timber + corn came from Baltic but mainly those goods that had little import duty into Island but could be imported (illegally under English/Scottish law) in smaller quantities, by night, to adjacent coastal landing places (english knew as smuggling, but known as the ['running'] trade on Island - apparently manx caught + cured herring were exported
