Hi everybody my grandmother's birth cert arrived today she was the daughter of Jessie ( Jessica Marie ) Gillon, Jessie born 1891 daughter of Sophia Radcliffe and Henry Gillon. There was no fathers name on the cert, and i thought it was going to be simple !
My grandmother used the name Ball so i'm assuming she took this from her father, I have found a marriage record of Jessie Gillon in 1926, the year Olive Gillon ( grandma ) was born. there is also a death record for a Jessie Ball in 1936 aged 45, Jessie gillon was born in 1891. My grandfather insists Olives mother was called Sophia it's possible Olive was brought up by her grandmother Sophia as she would have only been 10 when Jessie died ( if it's the correct person )
I believe Olives dad was mariner.
