Re: Robert Wade & Catherine Corlett

Hello Paul,

There is a gap in the Andreas parish register of most records between about July 1685 & 1704, and someone marrying in 1729 would be likely to have been born during that missing period (not a lost volume, but not entered, until "The Revd Mr Samuel Watleworth came to Kk Andrews.." at about the beginning of August 1704). Some earlier records seem to be missing as well, as the entries are erratic.

As well as wills, Andreas Confirmations can be useful for filling this gap. There is one for Robt Wade Son of John Wade, Taylor, on 2 Nov.1718. No ages were given at this date, but judging by later entries they were usually aged 15,16, or 17.
If the father was dead this was also given, so I would look for an Andreas will for John Wade, taylor, after 1718.

You transcribed a will for Jane Wade als Cormod "who was burried the 1st of May 1702" who mentioned her son John and "Jane Xtian? als Wade" amongst others, as well as her husband Philip Wade. And Joyce Oates transcribed the 1710 Jane Wade als Christian will mentioned by Frances. These are on Ian's website if not on the FHS one.

This is guessing, but Philip Wade could have been the one mentioned as his son with brother John in John Wade's 1706 will, which is also transcribed (by Brian), although John would have been very old for those days. And Philip may have married again after Jane's death - see will for Jane Wade alias Callister.

Happy Christmas everyone!

Sue
