Am still struggling with these Kirbys. Have checked Manx Notebook report of dedication of the St Andrew's War Memorial----- G B Kirby. No CWGC record for him. The Manx Roll of Honour book
& MNB list has only Thomas Henry Kirby / Lance Corporal Royal West Surrey Regt. // 3 Hope Terrace / died of wounds Sept. 23rd 1917 BUT he does not have a CWGC record either.
So I do agree the St Andrew's man must have been living elsewhere & a relation in the church must have requested inclusion . HOWEVER I sae the plaque today & it's definitely G R.
