Private Jack Archibald Brown grandson of Mr John A Brown of the IOM Times newspaper is also on St Andrew's WW1 war memorial. He was a brave soldier in the South African War for 4 years&

then had an adventurous life sailing the world, briefly returning to IOM to be married [wife nee Devereau] &widowed rejoined Army as a driver & was severely injured & shellshocked &lingered to die aged 35 in

IOM[ leaving a 4yr old daughter.] Buried at Braddan after full military funeral. The Times cutting will go in our Book of Honour. I have visited the grave in Braddan New [ Thanks Liz & Jackie for photo ]

I wonder if there might be a Board person who is a Brown Or Devereau family member & has a photo of Jack which could be copied ????
