Having returned from the exhibition, the Parish Hall displayed an amazing amount of publications, family trees and even drawings and displays from the local school.
One of the more interesting pieces for me, apart from the cloth lace caps, was the display from the Andreas Benevolent Society which was founded in 1812. The ledgers contained many names including a couple for the surname Casement, John (11 Jan 1847 - page 94) and Edward (13 Feb 1883 - page 188).
For further details, contact should be addressed through me and I'll either relay your message on, or give you the email for the secretary Norman Teare.
The old newspapers and publications always prove to be a good read, the tea and cakes were delightful, the old books and interesting curiosities were well received and the ladies on the IGI machines located a huge number of relations for various people. (Interesting to see some bargain offers to new members)
For those who've just joined (and there's been a few today), meetings are usually held on the third Friday of the month at 7:30pm at Union Mills Methodist Hall (next to shop) and details can be found on the iomfhs.im website.
