William Quirk baptised 30 April 1820 (Patrick) married Catharine Quirk 5th April 1845 Patrick. She was born around 1823.
In the 1851 census William is obviously at sea as Catherine is listed as a Mariner's wife and has three children, Anne, John and Catherine. By 1861, she is a widow with 5 children. The gravestone reads In loving memory of William Quirk of Peel who departed this life 22nd November 1860 aged 39 years ....
The family story is that he lost his life when his ship hit an uncharted rock off Seville and he is buried there. This was his first voyage as captain. Can anyone help in trying to find the name of his ship and therefore more about his career or how one would go about tracing a burial in Seville?
Many thanks, Marna
