I'm stuck on my 3x GGF Philip Camaish who was born in the IOM about 1798-1800. As part of trying to discover his birth I have a query about his son Philip and his grandson Philip Joseph. Philip Joseph Camaish was christened at Lezayre on the 11th October 1868 with parents Philip Camaish and Elizabeth Quilliam. He had previously been christened at Lezayre as Philip Joseph Kamash on the 17th May 1868 with parents Cormack Kamash and Elizabeth Quillam.
My query is - Why had Philip the alternative name Cormack ?? I realise that Camaish and Kamash are in fact the same for I gave up when I reached 40 diferent ways of spelling the Comish name.
