As genealogy covers such a wide expanse I have become more interested in what life was like in those days, manxnotebook being very interesting. Haven't yet read all Frances' work but was interested in the origin of sayings etc. Google ' Life in the 1500s ' - Personally I think some of the examples given such as 'upper crust' from bread & pies very believable. I also think the idioms about the bell & coffins could well have come from the fear of being buried alive. Fun & interesting reading .
