Looking for parents of Robert OATS born circ 1771-73 in Douglas, occupation shipwright/builder (1841 & 1851 census), and married to Mary Thompson in Liverpool on 1st January 1810. Robert died in Douglas September 1856. Mary was born England (somewhere), and the couple had 5 known children, all christened IOM. Mary died in Douglas June of 1864. Robert and Mary owned property on Atholl Street in Douglas.

Ancestry.com, FamilySearch and other sources have failed to produce any logical solution. Does anyone have any suggestions, or perhaps have this gentleman in their tree? Thank you for any assistance.
