I am struggling to trace a Manx ancestor and woder if anyone can help..
From the UK 1901 census for Kent I see that Mary Anne Honess, wife of Thomas Honess, was born on the Isle of Man. I am trying to identify Mary Anne.
I have searched for their marriage in UK records, but so far without success. I know that Thomas was a soldier and that he was posted to Ireland. Their children, Henry, William, Charlotte and Ellen Alice, were born in Dublin between 1890 and 1896. By the 1901 census they are back in England living on Shorncliffe Military Camp, near Sandgate, Kent. I am speculating that Mary Ann .....?? and Thomas Honess met on the Isle of Man, or that they met in Dublin. At the time of the 1901 census Mary Ann is aged 33 so that puts her date of birth on the Isle of Man at about 1867-8. However, confusingly, I have also found a record of her death in 1947 in which it says she was 90, and born in 1857! I don’t know if she initially lied about her age or if she was a confused old lady who got it wrong.
Thanks for any help. It would be greatly appreciated.
