Balladda ('Adam's Farm' according to Broderick) is shown as land-holding 66t on Woods Atlas of 1867. It is a 'Quarterland' in it's own right, a long thin strip of land from the coast to the hills and therefore there may have been several properties/family living in/on Balladda. The 'Proprietor' of 66t, over 87 acres - a fairly large holding of land by Manx standards - was Edward M. Gawne.
Hampton Creer in 'Never to Return' mentions Henry Kelly and states 'It looks as if Henry Kelly was unlucky in being singled out and eventually sentanced to penal servitude, but he never did go to Australia. He was given a last minute reprieve...'
