one 'keeper of the light' was James ? Cottier of Peel who was responsible for trimming the lamp in the harbour light (a rather messy job given the old oil burning lamp) - note this was not a lighthouse - all those on the Island (run by Scottish Norther Commissioners of lights) were described as lighthouse keepers and had a much bigger lamp to look after!
