The most likely John Cain was the father of the guy who established this board 15 or more years + 3 owners back - I met him about 15yrs ago when he was already retired and living in Onchan (I understood he had been associated with a well known furnishing company - he wrote a small book about manx rock climbs + a book on the shipwreck of the barque Thorne - self published in 1992) - I heard some time ago that he was in a home (not sure if retirement or nursing) but can't be 100% certain of this, there are a lot of John Cains! - in the early days of this board he was a reasonably frequent poster but usually on more general topics but he han't posted for many years.
