The Moores

The Moores
Deemster Thomas Moore (of Rushen Abbey), b. 1721 or 1726, d. 1794) (place unknown-can you determine place of birth, death?) married (7 Feb 1749, St. Matthew, Douglas) “Margaret Moore of the Hills” (1722-1808) – what does “of the Hills” indicate/where is this?

I’ve checked Old Manx Families – The Moore’s.

Deemster Thomas Moore and Margaret Moore of the Hills had many children: Ann, Eunice, Margaret, Phillip Thomas, Thomas, Charles, John George and James Christian. The latter, James Christian Moore (b. 1760 – Rushen Abbey / Billown, Malew – is this conflicting information, i.e., is Rushen Abbey in Billown? –d. 1822- where did he die/where was he buried?). In 1790 he inherited the Abbey then sold it (is it known to whom he sold it?). Married Ann Stowell, 28 Feb 1797, Ballacregga, Braddan.

Just some previous history: James Christian Moore and Ann Stowell had many children: Claud, Eunice Elizabeth, Catherine Mary, Thomas Claudius, James, John George (2- births with this name) AND (DJD helped me with this information 11 Sep 2010)Margaret Ann Moore (4 Jan 1798, Malew from A.W. Moore Old Manx Families-15 Apr 1863, Castletown). Married John Kelly, High Bailiff of Castletown.
