Hi Tim
I have some info researched by Thomas Kelly's granddaughter, Iris Lyle nee Blackburn before she died in 1996:-
Patrick Register R.B.493
Thomas Kelly illegitimate son of Edward Kelly and Ann Moore private
April 25th 1840 received October 12th 1845 as alleged by parents.
Christened in Dalby Chapel 22 April 1840
Marriage Certificate No.472 January 26th 1861
Thomas Kelly 21 Bachelor Miner Patrick
Elizabeth Kaye 19
Fathers: Edward Kelly and John Kaye
My mother’s father was a Thomas Kelly and he was the illegitimate son of one Ann Moore and an Edward Kelly. He was bought up in his mother’s home, his Grandfather being one Thomas Moore. The records in the museum show that there was more than one Thomas Moore who could have been Anne’s father but this Thomas Moore lived at Glen Maye and as my Aunt owned Glen Maye when I was a child having inherited from her father, Thomas Kelly. I deduced that one should trace back this Thomas Moore’s line. Land ownership verifiable in Museum. As for Edward Kelly, that would be a very long search indeed as he could be one of three men. However, it is doubtful that Edward Kelly was a married man – had he been so it is almost certain that he would have been “Presented” for adultery and a record would be found in the presentments, so perhaps we can reduce the families to two.
Thomas Moore, father of Ann, married firstly Ann Shimmin and secondly Elizabeth Kaye, widow nee Watterson. He was born or christened 7 March 1790 the son of Thomas Moore and Margaret Killey. He died and was buried in Glen Maye 10th June 1869.
I am interested as to whether or not Ann Moore went on to marry Robert Watts and emigrated to Illinois. I have a date of birth for Ann d. of Thomas and Ann as 9 Jan 1821 but the dob given in Illinois is 11 Nov 1821......
I am her ggggranddaughter.
