Corkill in Ohio, before 1850

I’ve been looking for Corkill family connections in northeast Ohio before 1850: Any insight into Isle of Man connections to these individuals is much appreciated!

Thanks to Carol G., I think there is at least one: Robert Corkill and his probable wife Jane Lace, and Edward Corkill and his wife Jane Callow.

We believe these two Corkill men were brothers, sons of John Corkill and Jane Kinread of Lezayre. Both families have been traced into the third generation, should anyone want more information about them.

Other Corkills in Ohio at this time:

1. Thomas Corkill who married Christian Quilliam:

Christiana Quilliam (Hugh - Elizabeth Kelly) was born in Ohio, August 27, 1836, and died in North Dover, April 17, 1912. She married, in Cuyahoga County, January 21, 1854, Thomas Corkill, possibly the son of William Corkill and Esther Cormode, baptized at Andreas, December 31, 1825. (This is from a patron-submitted entry in the IGI) He died October 13, 1881. Thomas and Christiana Corkill are buried in East Cleveland Cemetery

2. Mary Corkill who immigrated with Christian Caine and three of her children on the Hannibal, from Liverpool, arriving in New York September 25, 1827: Christian Cain 40, Eliza 11; Philip 4; Abel 2; Mary Corkill 18 servant. (All are listed as from England.)

Daniel Corlett (William - Alice Caine) was christened at Kk Michael, November 28, 1802, and died at Newburgh Heights, September 3, 1863. He married, at Newburgh, December 6, 1828, Mary Corkill, perhaps the daughter of John and Mary (Kneen) Corkill, who was christened at Kk Michael November 13, 1808. Mary Corlett nee Corkill died in Cleveland, March 29, 1845.

3. Ann Corkill who married, for his third wife, John Kelly of Warrensville.
John Kelly married third, November 7,1848, Ann Corkill, daughter of John and Jane (_____) Corkill. Ann was born in the Isle of Man, about 1813. Ann Corkill Kelly, widow of the late John Kelly, died November 26, 1883, at her residence in South Warrensville, age 70. Her death cert gives her parents as James Corkill and Jane Corkill.

I had earlier thought perhaps she was d/o Mary Kneen and John Corkill of Andreas, However, I recently found Mary Corkill’s 1850 will (wife of John Corkill of Ballakilley-clieu, Michael) on Brian Lawson’s site, thanks to Pat Galovich. According to this will, Ann Corkill was a legatee of Mary’s will, and was known as “Ann Corkill”, whereas two other daughters were known by their married names. (Ann is not listed in the 1841 census with the family) But then I found Ann;s death cert, giving her parents as James and Jane!
