Well dont know if this thread has gone cold but im the great-grandson of Robert N Cowley who`s mother was Almena.I`ve seen that the census of 1891 shows William H cowley as a bigamist...interesting.In 1901 census Almena is in England where she was born with 3 of her 5 children,the 2 eldest boys work in Derby and my g/g in Carlton, Notts.The reason i was told as a child that the family left the isle of Man was that Almena`s husband died falling from a bicycle while drunk now was this to cover a bigamist marraige or is there a cock-up on the 1891 census is Phillip Almena`s husband.anyone got any more information pls help
