Thomas Callow 1886-1926

On 14 June 2006, Philip Gale posted a message seeking information about his great uncle Thomas Callow 1886-1926, in relation to a photo of Thomas' daughter Virginia taken with her companion Miss Mitchell at Ballacowle in Aug 1936.

Recently acquired info from USA census & immigration records suggests this Virginia may not be Thomas' daughter, but a second cousin. She is more likely to be Virgina Mitchell Callow daughter of Robert Conrad Callow & Mae Elizabeth Mitchell, born in Pontiac Michigan in 1916 & in 1936 recorded on the same ship's passenger list coming into New York & living at the same address as 53 year old Eva R Mitchell.

Thomas Callow who died in Delano Kern County California in 1926 is listed on the 1920 USA Federal census as single & is the only member of his household.

Given the above & although Virginia's grandfather Charles Callow (1810-1895) came to the USA from the Isle of Man in 1832, Thomas & Virginia Callow (later Crabtree) appear to be more distant than father & daughter; both Virginia & Thomas descend from common ancestors John Callow & Catherine Cormode.
