I am trying to research my wife’s mother’s family tree – Mcmurdock. Her ggrandparehts were married in Killough Church of Ireland (Co Down – just across the water from Peel).

Her ggfather was a John Mcmurdock, (27, Sailor) whose father was J McMurdock (Joiner) and her ggmother was a Elizabeth Chapman (21,Spinster) whose father was Adam Chapman (Car Man). Their witnesses were Robert Nelson and Elizabeth Teer. Family memories are of a connection with the IOM and Barrow in Furness. My (limited) research to date shows some Mcmurdocks in the Island during the 1800s, however I have been unable to make the necessary links. Any help would be appreciated
