Jim, the IOM has few civil registration certs for marriages before this became law in 1884. However the record in the parish register usually had both fathers' names and occupations, plus addresses, and some other details. That was what I suggested you look up at a FHC on LDS film, or write to the Registry for a copy (if you are not in the IOM).
