I've just had a look at those websites. All interesting info but it still isn't telling me what i want to know. I didn't know about the smallpox outbreak on board the Hannibal but it says that happened in 1860. The 1861 census tells me that Edward Kewley was an ord seaman, single, aged 26 from Kk Santon. On the 7th April the vessel was Lat 34deg 6N Long 28 deg 26 E in the Med.
I have looked at the National Archives website and truly can't make head nor tail of it.
Will go and scratch my head again and see if that helps.
Thanks for trying - I'm learning quite a bit about HMS Hannibal now and finding it interesting enough but also frustrating that I still haven't found data relevant to my Kewleys and not even sure if indeed the data exists.
